Perfect Timing

Time is one of the most precious commodities in our possession, but are we treating it with the proper respect? Why should we wait on time when time is not nor ever will wait on us? Many times, we convince ourselves to wait as we look for what we consider to be the “right” or “perfect” time to do a thing. What if those moments never arrive? What if we never become satisfied with ourselves, our circumstances, or our conditions to be good enough to do what we have been waiting so long to do or get accomplish? We are either currently doing it, have done it or will do it. We think and say to ourselves … “I’ll do this when … or I’ll do that when… etc. Much of this is rooted in fear. Fear of failure and being disappointed. Don’t get me wrong. According to Ecclesiastes 3:1 there is a time and a season for everything. But we often miss the timing waiting on perfect conditions. I have done this to myself countless of times. However, once I realized how much time I had been wasting, I had to make the decision to push past my fear, insecurities, and all other barriers to make some life changing decisions.

Another issue is being critical of oneself. The things that bother us about our lives, someone else is wishing they had those very things. It’s okay to dream, hope, wish and pray. But like a hamster on a wheel, our desires become empty cycles and squeaky reminders that we are going nowhere.

Two questions to ask yourself. “Why can’t I and What is stopping me.” Once you have identified the roadblocks, do what you need to do to remove them. Why, because if you do not, one day you will look back with regrets fill with “I wish I could’ve, should’ve and would’ve” moments. When necessary, get help. There is nothing wrong with asking for assistance. People come in and through our lives for reasons and seasons. Take advantage of the opportunities by way of the gifts and talent others bring to the table.

My encouragement to you is this. Stop waiting on the perfect moment. You have heard it said “there is no time like the present. It is a gift, that is why it is called the present.” What are you waiting to do or get done? Are you waiting to get settled, lose weight, get in shape, save enough money, retire, etc.? Do what you can now. It doesn’t have to be anything significant that will require a lot of time and money. Start small, because if you don’t start, you will never finish. I tell people quite often, do one small happy a day and build on that. You will look back one day and discover that your days, weeks, and years are being filled with a bunch of happies. If you are waiting on these power twins, joy and happiness, to knock on your front door or schedule some time on your calendar, you will be waiting a long time. I’ve said it before, and I will continue to repeat it. We cannot WAIT on life to happen; it is our responsibility and a forced discipline to MAKE life happen. Everything begins and ends with a decision. There are a lot of inventions and good ideas in the graveyard. My challenge to you right now and in this moment is to stop waiting. Whatever “it” is, DO IT NOW!”
